Adirondack Pub & Brewery ( Click here to view menu )

Food Service Atmosphere
Overall Rating = 90% out of 100%

Lake George, New York, located in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains is one of the most popular vacation/tourists destinations in the northeast. Lake George has something for everyone! While visiting one can: go shopping at the outlets, take a tour of the Lake on the famous Minne-Ha-Ha, stop by Fort William Henry which dates back to 1755, and of course dine on an array of excellent food from different cultures. After taking a personal tour of Lake George I worked up quite an appetite. I saw a wide variety of restaurants along the stretch of Canada Street. The restaurant that interested me the most was The Adirondack Pub and Brewery, so I pulled in and decided to give it a try.

The Adirondack pub and brewery is located on 33 Canada Street. It is the only brewpub located in Lake George. It boasts up to 8 beers on tap at one time. They also distribute their beer to 25 other restaurants/pubs. I had heard good things about their beer and I was wondering how their food would measure up. This restaurant is open seasonally from the first week of April till the 3rd week of November. The restaurant itself is moderately sized on the inside. But do not worry about lack of seating space because they also have a spacious patio that can easily accommodate large families.

The dining experience was excellent at the brew pub. The décor throughout the restaurant really helps to portray the style and mood of the Adirondacks. The atmosphere was very relaxed, and the staff had made me feel welcome and not like I was just another tourist stopping through for a bite to eat. They made helpful suggestions about food and beer alike. After talking to the waiter I had learned that the brew pub will be celebrating their tenth year anniversary in October. They will celebrate a decade of service with an Oktoberfest style party that will include other breweries and German food.

The food at the pub and brewery is traditional American inspired fare with a twist. Both their lunch and dinner menus include everything one would expect from a brewpub from appetizers to sandwiches and ribs. While reading the menu I was surprised at how affordable the food was considering the location of the restaurant. Some of the interesting meals included: Dome Island stuffed chicken, Ahi Tuna Salad, and the Jack Daniels Steak. I ordered the Black and Blue Burger. For my side I had the choice of regular or sweet potato fries, coleslaw, or soup; I choose the sweet potato fries. The hefty burger was topped with lettuce, tomatoes, red onions and a gorgonzola/horseradish sauce. The horseradish complemented the burger’s overall taste and was not too overpowering. The burger was juicy and very delicious. I washed it down with a glass of their popular bear naked ale.

My visit to the Adirondack Pub and Brewery was both delicious and entertaining. It definitely met my expectations to what a good brewpub should be like. And if you are curious about how the whole brewing process works, you are in luck because if you call ahead you can schedule a tour of their brewery facility. Don’t forget to check out their wide selection of memorabilia that can be purchased including shirts and beer glasses. The Adirondack Pub and Brewery of Lake George is an enjoyable and affordable destination that should not be passed by while visiting the historic town of Lake George.
